Position Description:
Managing and growing assets has brought new complexities and exciting opportunities for investors and wealth management service providers alike. The face of wealth management is changing, bringing with it a growing population of retirees and high-net worth individuals. Meanwhile a convergence in the industry is causing increased competition, a proliferation of service and product offerings.
As your firm faces an increase in competition for assets, the service you provide becomes the differentiators for your clients. Today, SunGard works with thousands of institutional and independent customers in the wealth management industry. These firms have realized that by utilizing an integrated technology platform to help link activities across the lifecycle, they are able to focus more time and energy on their clients’ needs rather than on underlying business processes.
Approximately 2,500 customers use SunGard’s wealth management platforms. SunGard processes 500,000 transactions per day on its accounting platforms. Some 600 customers, managing more than 650,000 accounts equaling more than $3.4 trillion in assets, use SunGard’s accounting platforms. STN connects approximately 1,900 asset managers, 650 issuers, 270 broker-dealers representing 500 global trading destinations. This is a 2nd shift position. Work schedule will be as follows: 11AM – 8PM or 12PM – 9PM Sunday through Friday with a 5 day work week.
This position serves as the entry-level Transaction Processing Specialist role within the Service Bureau. The TPS I typically has limited relevant work experience but possesses a basic understanding of the concepts and terminology within the financial services industry. The TPS I is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of back-office, financial transactions, and ensures that work is processed according to Standard Operating Procedures. The role of the TPS I serves as training ground for a future role as a TPS II, or other mid- to advanced-level processor, in a real-time, real-world environment. The TPS I partners with other members of the team, taking ownership in the quality, success, and profitability of the business unit.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Transaction Processing
- Process a variety of back-office, financial transactions, including some or all of the following: Enrollments, Allocation and Profile Changes, Forms Requests, Withdrawals, Loans, etc, for Defined Benefits and Defined Contribution Plans
- Typical systems utilized could include SunGard workflow software, SunGard financial record keeping software, and various customer software systems
- Ensure that forms are complete, and accurately input information into the recordkeeping system
- Follow all Standard Operating Procedures
- Consistently meet or exceed target goals for productivity and quality
Quality Assurance, Development & Compliance
- Review output, correct errors, document issues and update the workflow system
- Complete and remain committed to ongoing training and development
- Adherence to all security and privacy protection requirements
- Adherence to SunGard policies including attendance, compliance, etc.
Client Relationship Management - Respond appropriately and quickly to client requests
- Communicate and follow-up with clients via phone or email
- Escalate issues clearly and immediately through the defined chain of command
- Demonstrate professionalism and responsiveness on the job at all times
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of six (6) months of directly related financial experience, as described above
- High School Diploma or GED
- Basic understanding of the concepts and terminology used in the financial services industry
- Ability to understand and follow detailed procedures
- A positive attitude and the ability to work in a team environment and adapt to change is essential
- Willingness to learn and perform additional tasks
- Must be a self starter with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
- Good customer service and interpersonal skills
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Basic understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Minimum typing ability of 40 wpm with 90% accuracy
- Must be dependable and flexible, with the ability to work a 40 hour work week and willingness to work overtime hours when necessary.
DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- 1 year of directly related experience in financial services industry
- Previous experience processing financial transactions
- Basic understanding of the OmniPlus and EXP AG applications
OTHER REQUIREMENTS & CONSIDERATIONS
Service Bureau employees must pass SunGard’s security and background checks and may also be subject to additional security regulations, rules and/or background checks as required by SunGard clients
