Position Summary:

This position will develop products, which meet company objectives, expand product lines, and help drive company growth while supporting technical aspects of the company.

Responsibilities:

• Participates in the development of new pet food and pet treat products meeting marketing expectations
• Meet product development timelines as established for each product
• Conduct product development activities in a planned and effective manner
• Identify opportunities to cost reduce products and improve effectiveness.
• Support transition of products from product development phase to production
• Ongoing technical support for products and other activities as requested

Job Duties:

• Conduct development activities for protocepts, prototypes, and new products associated to pet foods and treats
• Carry out multiple projects simultaneously
• Coordinate product development activities of assigned projects
• Conduct line trials in a planned and efficient manner
• Develop specifications for new products and ingredients
• Evaluate opportunities to cost reduce products
• Coordinate analytical testing of products during product development
• Maintain organized and concise records of all product development activities
• Assist in identifying alternative pathways for meeting management goals and objectives
• Assist in transition of products from product development to production
• Interface effectively with other supporting personnel /​ groups to move projects forward and to work through identified issues.
• Complete other tasks/​duties/​activities as assigned by supervisor

Experience /​ Education:

• BS or MS in Food Science or Food Technology preferred
• 1-3 years experience in product development and extrusion of food or pet food
• Familiarity with production environments
• Strong working knowledge of extrusion
• Working knowledge of food systems and formulating
